Getting started

Saguaro Hours for Jira adds time tracking to Jira Cloud. You log work in a weekly grid or from an issue. Every entry is a normal Jira worklog written as you. Teams, billable flags, approvals and reports sit on top.

What you get

Install and first steps (Jira administrator)

  1. Install the app from the Marketplace. Accept the permissions listed in permissions.
  2. Open Jira settings, then Apps, then Saguaro Hours. The first load can take several seconds.
  3. Set the period type (weekly or monthly) and the required hours per week. The default is weekly and 40.
  4. Optional: turn on the billable default and add attributes (billable-and-attributes.md).
  5. Optional: create a team and name its lead (teams.md).
  6. Tell your users to open Saguaro Hours from the Apps menu in Jira.

First steps (everyone)

  1. Open Saguaro Hours. The page shows this week in your Jira time zone.
  2. Type an issue key in the box above the grid and press Enter, then type hours in a day cell (for example 1.5, 1:30, 1h 30m or 90m).
  3. Open the Work log tab on that issue. Your entry is there, under your name.
  4. When the week is done, press Submit timesheet (periods-and-approvals.md).

Add the Log work panel to an issue

Jira does not show an app's issue panel on its own in the new issue view. Open an issue, select the Apps button under the issue title, and choose Log work. Jira shows that button only to people who can edit the issue. Jira administrators also get an option to show an app's panel on all work items.
