How to move sold-out products to the bottom of a Shopify collection
I'm Tyler, and I make LeDuc Sold Out Sorter. You can move sold-out products to the bottom of a Shopify collection by hand, but you have to do it every time something sells out or comes back. An app can do it automatically, which is what mine does.
The built-in way
Themes show a sold-out product with a "Sold out" label and leave it where it is. If a collection is sorted manually, you can drag products into the order you want, so you can drag sold-out ones to the end yourself.
The catch is that it's manual work. Every time a product sells out you move it down, and every time it's restocked you have to remember where it used to sit. On a store with many products and frequent sell-outs, that gets out of date quickly. Collections sorted automatically (best selling, newest and so on) can't be dragged at all.
With LeDuc Sold Out Sorter
- Install the app from the Shopify App Store.
- Manually sorted collections are sorted right away. For collections sorted another way, click Switch to manual and sort. The current order is kept, and the in-stock order follows the sort it had.
- That's it. When a product sells out it moves to the bottom of every manually sorted collection within seconds, and returns to its old spot when restocked. Every collection is also re-checked every 30 minutes.
- Optional: in the "In-stock order" column, pick how in-stock products are sorted per collection: best selling, newest, price or title. Sold-out products always stay last.
- Optional: under "Never move products tagged", add tags to leave alone.
pre-orderandpreorderare the defaults. - Optional: turn on hiding if you'd rather sold-out products disappear until they're back. It's off by default.
