Export InfoPath form data from SharePoint

Microsoft ended support for InfoPath in July 2026, but years of submitted forms are still sitting in SharePoint form libraries as .xml files. Here's how to get them out and into a spreadsheet you can actually use.

1. Download the forms

Each submitted form is an .xml file in the form library. Two ways to get them all:

You want the .xml files, not the form template (template.xsn, in the library's Forms folder). The template is the blank form; the .xml files are the answers.

2. Turn them into a spreadsheet

Drop the .zip, or the .xml files, into the InfoPath to Excel converter. It reads every form in your browser and gives you one CSV with a row per form and a column per field. Repeating tables are kept, either joined in one cell or spread across columns.

3. Put the data somewhere that will last

Several kinds of form in one library?

If a library holds forms from more than one template, convert each template's forms separately. The converter tells you when it sees more than one template, since mixing them leaves lots of empty columns.
