Microsoft 365 turns off basic authentication for sending email (SMTP AUTH) at the end of December 2026. Answer three questions from your copier's email settings and see whether yours is affected, and what to do about it.

Where to find these settings
Type the copier's IP address into a web browser on the same network (it's usually printed on the copier's network or configuration page) and sign in as administrator. The email settings are usually under Network, Email, SMTP or Scan to Email. Your copier dealer can also tell you over the phone.
Why it matters now
The first sign of trouble is usually a scan that never arrives, with no error on the copier. Check before the end of December, while the old way still works as a fallback.
This check reflects Microsoft's announced change for Exchange Online. Microsoft's own documentation is the final word for your organization's settings.
